Sunset Branding Session | Arlington, MA

I often get asked “What is the best time to schedule our portrait session?” and while I *can* and *do* work at other times of day as necessary, the absolute best time to schedule your session (if you have a choice, and want to be outdoors) is golden hour.  What the heck is “golden hour” you ask!  It’s totally photographer jargon, but it just has a pretty simple meaning — it’s the hour right after sunrise, or right before sunset.  At that time of day, the light is soft and flattering for everyone (yes, everyone.  Have I mentioned recently I don’t believe anyone is “not photogenic”?  You just need the right light, the right posing, and the photographer who can put it all together into images you’ll love).  Of course, this changes throughout the year as the length of daylight shifts with the seasons — in June, sunset is super late, and in December it’s wicked early.

This branding session in Arlington took place shortly before the golden hour, but we still found amazing light (haha, this is what happens when both photographer and client habitually show up 15 minutes early 😉 ).  Here are a few of my favorites of the gorgeous M:
