What is my job?  That SHOULD be an easy answer, right?  I’m a photographer; I take photos.  But it’s so much more than that.  I see my job as being SO much more.  I aim to instill confidence in people who don’t necessarily feel confident — in themselves or their bodies.  I aim to give an experience to remember.  One of my oldest son’s teachers recently said to me that sometimes the best learning comes when we don’t even realize we’re studying.  I think the same can be said for family portraits.  In a lot of ways, the best portraits happen when you’re just hanging out with your family having a good time and soaking each other in.  My job is to facilitate that — with prompts and games and helping your figure out the best location for your family, and the best time of day (not just when it comes to lighting, but also when everyone is most likely to be in the best mood).  Without that, it’s just clicking a shutter and understanding the exposure triangle — something anyone could do if they put their mind to it.  Helping people be their true selves is what I see as my main job.

With these folks, we had a couple of weather reschedules, but when we finally got together, the weather was perfect as were the spring blossoms.  Here are a few of my favorites — and if you’re ready to capture your family’s magic, drop me a line!
