Covid Friendly Bat Mitzvah | Lexington, MA

“In an old house in Paris, all covered in vines…” Oh, wait, that isn’t QUITE what I’m going to tell you about today, though if you scroll through you will see that this lovely young lady had a lovey and Covid-friendly bat mitzvah that was indeed “Madeleine” themed.  We started the day of M’s rehearsal with some formal shots at the synagogue and I even convinced the family to do a couple of quick shots in the snow — we had gorgeous cloud cover and the light was absolutely divine.

The day of the party dawned bright and beautiful, and surprisingly warm for February — it was a balmy 40 degrees, and the sun made it feel even warmer.  Unlike a few days before at the rehearsal, the sun was out in full force for the party, which is always a bit tricky to get flattering light, but I had a few tricks up my sleeves for the formal shots with parents and grandparents, and then everything was on the fly as friends gathered to celebrate (masked, of course!) in the driveway.  It was such a thoughtful way to celebrate, and the Madeleine theme was seen throughout — a cutout form hand-painted for silly photos, mugs with Madeleine’s hat, the cookie favors (made by the bat mitzvah girl’s grandmother!) were, of course, madeleines as well.
